Firewall FAQ
Should I buy new or refurbished?
New units come with full manufacturer warranty and are eligible for any support contract. Refurbished units cost less and are a good fit for budget-conscious offices, labs and spares. We're happy to quote both so you can compare.
Do I need a license or subscription with my firewall?
For most next-generation firewalls, yes: security services (threat protection, web filtering, updates) and support are licensed separately. Fortinet sells FortiCare/FortiGuard bundles; Meraki MX appliances require an active Meraki license to operate. We'll include the right license in your quote.
How do I pick the right size?
The two biggest factors are the number of users or devices and your internet speed, especially with security inspection turned on. Send us both and we'll recommend a model with sensible headroom.
Can you quote multiple sites or HA pairs?
Yes. List your locations and quantities in the notes and we'll quote the whole rollout, including high-availability pairs.
